For associates

Clinical Supervision for Associates

The associate years shape the clinician you become. Good supervision should do more than sign off on your hours. It should sharpen your clinical thinking, steady you through the hard cases, and prepare you for the parts of this profession nobody teaches in grad school. That's the supervision I aim to provide.

Who I supervise

I am a BBS-qualified supervisor providing clinical supervision to associates (AMFT, ASW, or APCC) in California who are accruing supervised experience toward licensure. Supervision is available in person in Los Angeles or via secure videoconference, consistent with BBS requirements.

My approach to supervision

My supervision style mirrors how I practice: integrative, direct, and relational. We'll work from your actual cases, conceptualization, interventions, the moments in session where you froze or weren't sure what to do, with an emphasis on developing your clinical judgment rather than handing you scripts.

I also bring something most supervisors can't: years in healthcare operations, behavioral health billing, and revenue cycle management alongside clinical practice. Associates I supervise learn the whole profession: documentation that holds up to insurance and legal scrutiny, ethical billing, how the business of therapy actually works, and what it takes to build a sustainable career. You'll finish your hours a better clinician and a more prepared professional.

What we cover

Structure & logistics

I maintain a small number of supervisees so each one gets real attention. All supervision agreements, documentation, and hour verification follow current BBS requirements.

Growing with the practice

Vela Marriage and Family Therapy Inc. is a growing practice. As we expand, there will be opportunities for associates to build their caseloads within the practice, with supervision, referrals, billing, and administrative support handled, so you can focus on becoming an excellent clinician. If that path interests you, mention it when you reach out.
